F AQs and Travel Info

Q. I've never been to a Jewish wedding!

A. Don't worry, we haven't either! This won't be too different from any other wedding you've been to. The chuppah ceremony will be in English and Hebrew, and the significance of any traditions will be explained during the ceremony. The only thing you'll have to do is shout "Mazel tov!" after we break the glass (which marks the end of the ceremony). During the reception we'll do The Horah, which is a traditional dance that's easy to follow along with!

Q. What should I wear?

A. We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and we'd love to see you in your own style! This is a dressy-casual/semi-formal event (think button-ups, slacks, cocktail dresses, pantsuits, etc.) but feel free to wear your nicest and most festive outfits! It is considered respectful to cover your head in the synagogue, and we'll have special wedding-themed yarmulkes available if you'd like to wear one!

Q. Do you have a registry?

A. We've lived together for so many years and we're so lucky to have everything that we need. If you'd really like to get us a gift, we would most appreciate something small and heartfelt! Morgan's special request is a movie of your choice on disc. We would also love if you made a contribition in our honor to the synagogue, or to the Time Out Youth Center in Charlotte, NC.

Time Out Youth provides support, advocacy, and opportunities for personal development and social interaction to LGBTQ youth in the Charlotte area.

Q. Can we take photos with our phones/cameras during the wedding?

A. The Rabbi has requested that guests not take photos during the ceremony, so that we can honor our traditions and be "in the moment". Please feel free to take photos and videos during the reception! We'll also have disposable cameras at the tables that we will get developed after the wedding, so we'd love for you to capture memories on those as well.

Q. What's for dinner?

A. We will be having a special breakfast-for-dinner, along with brunch-y drinks (N/A options available) and an evening coffee bar! All the food provided will be kosher-style, and there will be vegan and vegetarian options.

Q. Where should I stay?

A. For those coming from out of town, please note that the wedding is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, which may affect travel plans. There are plenty of hotels in the area near the synagogue, as well as other hotels and Airbnb's around Raleigh. Here are a few hotels that are nearby:
